CASPER, Wyo. - The Big Horn Basin TEA Party’s annual picnic Saturday will feature rocker and controversial pundit Ted Nugent.

Nugent will address the crowd at noon. He will be on stage with another conservative speaker, Paul Vallely, a retired Army major general who appears on Fox News, said Robert DiLorenzo, one of the organization’s founders.

A handful of Republican candidates for public office have also confirmed they will attend the event, including Wyoming gubernatorial candidate Cindy Hill, superintendent of public instruction candidate Sheryl Lain, U.S. Senate candidate Tom Bleming and possibly U.S. Sen Mike Enzi, DiLorenzo said.

This year's event is expected to be different from last year's, when Liz Cheney rallied the crowd and attacked Enzi's record on coal. Cheney briefly ran against Enzi, a Republican, until dropping out, citing family reasons.

Last year's event also featured a speaker who warned against mosques springing up in the eastern U.S., claiming that they are tied to terrorism.

Nugent told the Cody Enterprise he’ll be in Emblem after a concert in Sheridan the night before. Nugent said there is a culture war, not a discussion, over the direction of the country.

Political moderates, he said, play "background music. I play the soundtrack for the American dream loud and proud."

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased on the organization’s website or at the gate for $40, DiLorenzo said.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fallowfield Ranch, 3357 Road 14, Emblem. Seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to bring chairs. Tickets include food, and soft drinks and water will be sold for $1 each.
