HELENA — House candidate Ryan Zinke’s total campaign debt is now at about $83,300 under an amended Federal Election Commission report, up $26,000 from the $57,300 debt reported earlier this week.
Campaign spokeswoman Shelby DeMars said Zinke personally had paid some travel-related bills that the campaign accountant had overlooked, which resulted in the amended debt number for the period ending June 30.
Of the $83,300 in debt owed by the campaign, $68,000 is owed to Zinke. He made a $42,000 personal loan to his campaign during the primary campaign and then personally paid $26,000 in travel bills.
His Democratic opponent, John Lewis, reported no debts.
