HELENA — State Auditor Monica Lindeen confirmed Wednesday that’s she exploring whether to run for Montana secretary of state in 2016 — but said she’s a long way from deciding.
“I’ve had a lot of people asking me what I planned to do (in 2016), and a lot have asked me to consider running for that office,” she said. “When the time is right, we’ll make a decision.”
Lindeen, 52, has been state auditor since 2008, winning re-election to her second four-year term in 2012. The auditor regulates the insurance and financial-services industries in Montana. Term limits prohibit Lindeen from running for re-election to the auditor post.
