The public is invited to a series of meetings set for next month that will help shape the Billings Parking Strategic Plan.

The meetings are set for 8:30-10 a.m. Aug. 6 and 6-8 p.m. Aug. 7 at Valley Federal Credit Union, 207 N. Broadway, in the lower level by the Back Porch Deli.

According to a news release from Billings City Administrator Tina Volek, parking professionals from around the country will be in Billings Aug. 5-8 to meet with city staff, representatives of the Downtown Billings Association and other Billings residents.

She described the Parking Expert Advisory Panel as “an effective community engagement tool designed to help identify existing issues and develop creative, yet practical recommendations” that will be incorporated into the Parking Strategic Plan.

During the first meeting on Aug. 6, the advisory panel will introduce the project and give the public a chance to meet the members. The meeting the following day will include preliminary recommendations for the strategic plan by the advisory board, which includes L. Dennis Burns, a senior vice president with Kimley-Horn & Associates of Phoenix, the overall project manager; Max Clark, parking and facilities director for Capital City Development Corp. in Boise, Idaho; Anne Guest, director of the Missoula Parking Commission; Jeff Petry, parking manager for the city of Eugene, Ore.; and Vanessa Solesbee, president of The Solesbee Group of Denver, the project’s assistant manager.

Dave Freehan, president of Civitas Consultants LLC and the former president of the International Downtown Association, will lead the advisory panel process.
