A Billings man admitted this morning that he obtained credit cards in his brother's name and charged $35,000 in unauthorized goods and services.
Chad Allen Wilson, 28, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Billings to an indictment charging him with credit card fraud in 2006.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Suek said Wilson was paroled from Montana State Prison in February 2006 and returned to Billings to live with his parents. His brother, who had been living at the home, had moved out but his mail, including pre-approved credit offers, continued to be delivered to the parents' address. Wilson filled out applications in his brother's name and got five credit cards.
Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull set sentencing for Aug. 21. Wilson faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine. He remains in custody.
