Kira Huck of Ballantine has been awarded a $1,500 Bonhomme Scholarship from The University of Montana. Huck, a junior in psychology and art at UM, is the daughter of Steve and Rita Huck of Ballantine.

Katherine J. Madden of Billings has been named to the spring semester dean's list at Boston University semester.

Twenty-five students who attend Montana colleges and universities have together received more than $143,500 in NASA scholarships and graduate research fellowships for the 2009-10 school year. The money was awarded by two NASA programs, the Montana Space Grant Consortium and the EPSCoR program. Robert Lakko, a 1997 graduate of Skyview High, recently earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Lakko is the son of Sherry Lakko of Billings. He will complete his postdoctoral training at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Christin M. Scariano, the son of Ronald and Susan Scariano of Billings, was recently awarded the Paul G. Smythe Theatre Award from the Theatre and Dance Department of Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio.

Anna Cruse, daughter of Connie Cruse of Billings, recently graduated with an associate in arts degree from Cottey College, Nevada, Mo.

Josephine Atkinson, daughter of Christine and Kip Atkinson of Billings, recently graduated with an associate in science degree from Cottey College, Nevada, Mo. Atkinson was also on the spring semester president's list.

Katarina Manhart, daughter of Cathy and Scott Manhart of Billings, recently graduated with an associate in arts degree from Cottey College, Nevada, Mo. Manhart was also on the spring semester president's list.

Catherine Mary Arpin, daughter of Jeffrey and Pamela Arpin of Billings, was named to the dean's list at the University of New Hampshire, Durham. Arpin graduated in May with a BA in sociology and dual minors in justice studies and family studies. She has accepted with Americorps and will work in New Hampshire with victims of domestic violence. Arpin is a graduate of Senior High.

Ashley Toner, daughter of William and Sally Toner of Billings, has been named to the spring dean's list at Evangel University, Springfield, Mo.

Organizations

Sean Davis, a senior at Billings Central, received his Eagle Scout Rank at a scout court of honor on June 20. His Eagle project was taking out the old backyard fence 1940s vintage wire/steel fence at Angela's Piazza on Grand and replacing it with a new solid wood six-foot fence. Angela's is operated by the Ursaline Sisters and is dedicated to the support, education, and empowerment of woman.

In the Service

Cadet Sarah Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Dr. Daniel and Mary Kryzer Johnson of Billings, recently graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. Johnson, a 2005 graduate of Senior High, concentrated her studies in life science. She was commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Transportation Corps branch and will report to Germany for her first assignment.
