Shiloh Road between King Avenue West and Poly Drive is open for travel, but construction along the roadway will continue to restrict speeds and number of open lanes.

Shiloh Road renovations this summer had closed the busy arterial, forcing detours and slowing traffic. Last week, one lane of the new roundabout at Grand Avenue and Shiloh Road opened, bringing the $48 million project closer to completion. The project, in the works for a decade, is the first in the state to receive funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Work on the 4.5-mile Shiloh Road overhaul began this summer and will continue this winter as long as weather permits, with the goal of finishing it next summer.

The new road will be five lanes wide, including a center turn lane. Roundabouts will carry traffic through eight intersections between Poly Drive and Zoo Drive, and a multiuse path will border one side and a pedestrian sidewalk the other.

On the segment south of King Avenue West, Shiloh Road will be closed between Hesper Road and Summer Lane for the next few weeks as culverts are installed for irrigation, and work continues at the Knife River roundabout and between Pierce Parkway and Zoo Drive.
