Bing and Lane Perrine of Billings won the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway in Sunday's drawing.
The Perrines purchased three of the 6,000 $100 raffle tickets available for the $400,000 energy-efficient home, built in the Josephine Crossing subdivision as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Memphis, Tenn., medical center specializes in pediatric cancer and does not charge patients for treatment. The Billings raffle was one of eight conducted across the country. It is the first time St. Jude has raffled a house in Montana. McCall Development oversaw construction of the home. All of the supplies and labor were donated.
Bing Perrine was recently featured in The Billings Gazette. He suffers from a congential heart defect and recently had a defibrillator and a pacemaker implanted. With his pre-existing medical condition, it's difficult if not impossible, Perrine said, to get health insurance. A street dance fundraiser was organized to raise money for the Perrine family last week.
Before the fundraiser was held, Perrine said his family was thankful for the community's support.
"We've had a lot of people bless us," he said. "Some people have told us that it's inspirational, so that's good to hear. If we can help people from the situation that we're in, then we're happy to do so."
The winners were announced during a live telecast on KTVQ on Sunday.
