The Billings Police Department on Saturday identified two people who died Friday night when a car crashed down Zimmerman Trail as Esther Takes Horse of Lodge Grass and Skyla House of Crow Agency.

Both women were 19, according to a release from Police Sgt. Neil Lawrence.

A 3-year-old girl was also injured in the crash and was taken to St. Vincent Healthcare. Sgt. Jason Gartner said the girl’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Just before 9 p.m., a passenger car was northbound on Zimmerman when, for an unknown reason, it went over the guardrail near the top of the east side of the road and plunged down a steep embankment.

It stopped half to two-thirds of the way down after rolling for several hundred feet. Both women were declared dead at the scene. Takes Horse was driving.

The Yellowstone County Coroner’s Office said it will not be able to complete autopsies until Sunday night at the earliest, when a pathologist is available.
