Oz Fitness, a West Park Promenade business that has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since last fall, is apparently under new ownership.
Jamey Eisenbarth, a Billings businessman, announced on Facebook Saturday that he and his partner, Don Christensen, are the new owners of the fitness center, which was originally known as 24 Hour Fitness.
The gym has been operating as usual since the bankruptcy filing last October. But it wasn’t immediately clear how the transfer of ownership affects the bankruptcy filing. The purchase applies only to the Billings property. Oz Fitness also operates four gyms in the Spokane area, and one in Medford, Ore.
“Don Christensen, I know you are going to make this the #1 fitness center again that the Billings, Mt., community can be proud to be a part of,” Eisenbarth wrote on Facebook. The new owners plan to invest in new equipment and are considering a name change.
In a voice message left in response to an inquiry from The Gazette, Bob McDonald, owner of West Park Promenade, said, “Basically, this looks like it is going through.”
In 1999, 24 Hour Fitness USA Inc., signed a 15-year lease for the space. Five years later, Oz Fitness assumed the lease.
