The Billings man who died on Friday in a motorcycle crash on Grand Avenue has been identified as Craig Sowerwine, 21.

Assistant Yellowstone County Coroner Chad Fehr released Sowerwine’s name on Monday morning and said that he died of blunt force trauma to the head and torso.

Authorities said on Friday that Sowerwine was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Grand Avenue when a car pulled out in front of him at 10th Street West.

Sowerwine then laid down the motorcycle and slid underneath the rear of the car.

Emergency crews performed CPR on him before loading him into an ambulance, which took him to Billings Clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators with the Billings Police Department said that he wasn’t wearing a helmet and was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on Grand before the crash.

The woman driving the car told police that she didn’t see the motorcycle approaching. She was not injured. The BPD continues to investigate.
