The Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office and Lockwood Fire Department have launched an arson investigation into a fire that destroyed a vacant Lockwood mobile home and nearby pickup on Wednesday.

“We are investigating it as an arson fire,” Lockwood Fire Department Capt. Keith Kober said Friday morning.

The fire appears to have originated in the living area of the trailer and is still under investigation as arson, said Sheriff's Det. and Fire Marshal Dan Paris on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to 1637 Dickie Road, No. 4, at about 2:10 a.m. Wednesday and attacked the fire within minutes, but the mobile home was already engulfed. No one was in the trailer and no injuries were reported.

Kober said the mobile home was vacant and its utilities had been shut off, but the home did have personal belongings in it.

An estimated dollar amount for the damage done by the blaze was not available Friday morning, but Kober said both the trailer and pickup were total losses.
