Authorities in Rosebud County found a body north of Forsyth over the weekend.
A brief news release from Sheriff Randy Allies on Sunday night said his office found the body of a female.
Allies said more information on the body, including the female's name, would not be released until an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday is completed.
The body was found on Sunday morning.
Allies thanked the Montana Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation and Absaroka Search Dogs for assisting in the investigation.
The subject line of Allies' release was "Missing Rosebud County Person," although the release itself made no mention of a missing person.
The most recent missing person case out of Rosebud County came on Dec. 9, when the sheriff's office asked for the public's help in finding 37-year-old Sally Annette Krueger, who was last seen leaving her home in Forsyth on Nov. 25.
