A 22-year-old Billings man has been accused of downloading child pornography from the Internet.
Anthony John William Moerman appeared in District Court for arraignment Monday. He pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of sexual abuse of children. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 100 years.
Moerman is being held in the county jail on $50,000 bond ordered by Judge Gregory Todd.
According to court records, an agent with the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children task force used Internet monitoring software to identify a computer in Billings being used to download child pornography.
A subsequent investigation led the agent to Moerman. He is accused of downloading child pornography onto a laptop computer between Feb. 15 and April 21. Some of the images included children 12 years old or younger, court records state.
