State authorities have been asked to investigate the death of an inmate at the Musselshell County jail in Roundup, Sheriff Woody Weitzeil said Tuesday.

Weitzeil said the state Division of Criminal Investigation will look into the death of a 33-year-old man at the jail. The man died shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, the sheriff said.

The man's name was not released. Weitzeil said it appears the man died of suicide by hanging.
