A 22-year-old Billings man admitted Thursday to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl and possessing child pornography.

Anthony John William Moerman appeared before District Judge Mary Jane Knisely and pleaded guilty to two felony counts of sexual abuse of children. Those charges stem from his possession of child pornography on a computer early last year.

Moerman also pleaded guilty to felony sexual assault for incidents involving a 13-year-old girl between December 2010 and April 2011.

Moerman also admitted to a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure for incidents during the same time period.

Moerman made the admissions without a plea agreement, and he could be facing a mandatory minimum prison term of 29 years when he is sentenced at a hearing yet to be scheduled. He remains in the county jail on a $50,000 bond.

Moerman was charged with possessing the pornography last June following an investigation by the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children task force. Prosecutors later added the sexual assault and indecent exposure charges.
