A Billings man admitted on Thursday to committing a sexual offense against a teenage girl.

James Gerald Bargas, 57, appeared before District Judge Mary Jane Knisely, where he admitted to the felony sex offense. He was brought into court shackled and wearing a Yellowstone County jail jumpsuit.

His guilty plea comes as part of a plea bargain that calls for a 20-year sentence to the Montana State Prison with 15 years suspended.

Bargas was charged in October with the offense, which involved a 15-year-old girl, according to charging documents.

Knisely set a sentencing date of July 7.
