A 26-year-old Billings man has been charged with endangering his 3-year-old son while driving drunk after assaulting the child's mother.

Ryan Scott Romero has pleaded not guilty in Yellowstone County District Court to felony criminal endangerment and misdemeanor counts of DUI and partner or family member assault.

Romero has been released from custody on a $10,000 bond.

According to court records, Romero was arrested April 2 after police were called to a residence on Hawthorne Lane at about 3:50 a.m.

A woman told officers that Romero, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her 3-year-old son, came to the residence intoxicated, spit at her and slapped her in the face before grabbing the boy and leaving.

A short time later, officers located and arrested Romero at his mother's residence on Janie Street, where they also found the boy.
