A Billings man who admitted to getting child pornography will spend eight years in federal prison.

Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull on Tuesday sentenced James Matthew Tafelmeyer, 32, to eight years and one month for his guilty plea to receipt of child porn.

Prosecutors said Tafelmeyer used a computer file-sharing program to get child porn images and videos for about seven years starting in 2004. He had more than 2,000 images and 24 videos on computer equipment seized from his home when a warrant was served on Dec. 1, 2011. The images included prepubescent children and sadistic and masochistic abuse of children, which are factors that lengthen a sentence.
