Two Billings men were arrested Saturday night for breaking into McKinley Elementary School, police said.
Tad Vincent Warren, 18, and Christopher Wayne Lone Elk, 19, both of Billings, were found inside the building at 820 N. 31st St. shortly after 6:45 p.m., Sgt. Neil Lawrence said.
Lawrence said Billings police were called for a report of two men trying to break into the school. As officers were responding, a building alarm went off.
An officer chased one of the suspects down a hallway before apprehending him, Fox said.
The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office and a police dog helped to clear the building, Fox said.
The men are being held at the Yellowstone County jail on suspicion of burglary.
Warren also faces accusations of possession of burglary tools, possession of paraphernalia, marijuana possession, possession of intoxicating substances and revocation of a deferred or suspended sentence.
The county jail roster says Lone Elk is also being held on suspicion of possession of burglary tools, driving without insurance and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Both men remained at the jail Sunday evening.
The investigation is ongoing.
