The Billings Police Department is investigating the suspicious death of a 77-year-old Billings woman who was found in a home on the south side of Billings Friday night.

The woman has been identified, according to a news release, but her name has not been released, pending notification of family.

Officers went to the home, located in the 4400 block of Murphy Avenue, shortly after 9:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the woman's body and began their investigation.

The scene was cleared by about 7 a.m. on Saturday, but the investigation is ongoing. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday morning to determine the cause of death.

Sgt. Mitch Hart declined to comment on the case until after the autopsy.
