Retired Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office drug sniffing dog "Troop" died this week from surgery complications. The dog was 12 years old.

Born in Holland, Troop joined the Sheriff's Office in 1999 after graduated from K9 academy as the department's second drug dog.

Working alongside his partner, Lt. Vince Wallis, Troop was responsible for nearly $2 million in drug forfeitures and seizures during his six years with the department.

The dog was retired in September 2005.
