A Billings judge issued a $15,000 warrant Friday for a man who allegedly pawned his ex-wife’s engagement and wedding rings.
Anthony Wayne Lamere, 26, faces a count of felony theft and a misdemeanor count of unsworn falsification to authorities.
He was scheduled to appear on the charges in Yellowstone County Justice Court at 3 p.m. Friday. When Lamere failed to appear, Judge David A. Carter issued an arrest warrant.
Charging documents say Lamere visited his ex-wife on May 16. She noticed he was acting strangely, she told police, and after he left she found that her wedding band and diamond-studded engagement ring from their marriage was missing.
The rings were originally purchased for $5,100, court records say.
The woman told police she contacted Lamere, who told her he pawned the rings at Platinum Plus Pawn, 1327 Main St., No. 6.
Police recovered the rings and a pawn slip in which Lamere stated he owned the rings.
