A 23-year-old man suspected of shooting at his father as he arrived at his Lockwood business in late January has been arrested.

Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder said Brandon White was arrested Tuesday morning in Laurel. Details of his arrest were not released, but Linder said public response to media reports of the case led to the arrest.

White is being held in the Yellowstone County jail and is expected to make his first court appearance this week. Jail records show that White is being held on two felony counts of assault with a weapon and misdemeanor charges of driving without a valid license and driving without insurance.

White is suspected of the Jan. 29 shooting of his father, 52-year-old Walter White, outside a business at 1270 Lockwood Road. Walter White was injured by the gunfire and later released from St. Vincent Healthcare.

On Feb. 5, the sheriff's office asked for help from the public in locating both the suspect and the victim, as well as Kurt Whitling and Jessica Matney, who were described as possible witnesses.

Linder said sheriff's detectives have since spoken with Walter White.
