A 35-year-old man admitted Thursday to charges in a roadside assault.

Buddy Lee Komeotis appeared before District Judge Mary Jane Knisely and pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor assault.

Komeotis admitted that on July 5, 2011, he injured two men during a fight in Lockwood. One man suffered serious head injuries.

A plea agreement calls for prosecutors to recommend a five-year sentence. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for April 6.

Komeotis was initially charged with two counts of assault with a weapon based on an allegation that he attacked two men with a tire iron.

On Thursday, Komeotis described the incident as a fistfight.
