Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 39-year-old man who fled a pre-release center in Billings late Thursday.

An arrest warrant was issued for Roderick Butterfly after he walked away from the Alpha House men’s pre-release center, 104 N. 31st St., at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday, a news release from the organization said.

Butterfly is described as Native American, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Butterfly was sentenced in Lake County on Feb. 21 for assault with a weapon and has been at Alpha House since Aug. 16., according to the news release.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue cap and a beige Carhart jacket of a green hooded sweatshirt.

People should not approach Butterfly because he is facing a 10-year sentence for felony escape.

Public records show that Butterfly has at least one DUI conviction from Glacier County.

Anyone with information about Butterfly’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
