A man who previously admitted threatening his ex-girlfriend with a knife in December received a five-year-suspended sentence Tuesday.

District Judge Russell C. Fagg sentenced Noah Michael Spooner, 34, on a felony count of partner or family member assault.

Charging documents say Spooner, who had been drinking the night of Dec. 26, 2013, took a large kitchen knife and yelled, “Oh, you want to get crazy?” at his ex-girlfriend while she was calling 911.

“I’m old enough to know better than to behave like I behaved,” Spooner said Tuesday, apologizing and explaining that he has an alcohol problem.
