A Billings man suffered a stab wound to his arm early Friday morning when a neighbor became upset over a fire pit and assaulted him with a sword, said the Billings Police Department.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, took himself to Billings Clinic, Sgt. Shane Winden said. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening, he said.
Police arrested the suspect, Robert Green, 43, on charges of assault with a weapon, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Green was booked into the Yellowstone County jail.
Winden said officers were dispatched to 2515 Olson Drive at 1:38 a.m. for a report of a man being stabbed with a sword.
Green, Winden said, apparently got upset with a neighbor, who had a fire pit, and was screaming and yelling from his residence. When the neighbor knocked on Green’s door to talk with him, Green opened the door and lunged at his neighbor with a sword, stabbing him in the arm, he said.
When officers arrived, Green was still wielding the sword, Winden said. Green initially refused to drop the sword when ordered by officers but eventually did. An officer also tased Green when he would not move away from the sword.
Winden said the sword was a novelty-type sword with a pointed tip.
