A man who prosecutors said became angry at a family gathering and pulled a hotel fire alarm was arrested a short time later for felony drunken-driving.

Daniel Edward Turnsplenty, 34, was charged Monday in Yellowstone County Justice Court with felony DUI and misdemeanor counts of driving without a valid license and disorderly conduct.

A judge set bond at $10,000 after a prosecutor said Turnsplenty has four prior DUI convictions. He was ordered to appear March 4 for arraignment in District Court.

Turnsplenty was arrested Saturday after police were called to a disturbance at a hotel on Mullowney Lane. Witnesses said Turnsplenty had arrived at a family gathering intoxicated and became argumentative when he was told he could not leave with his children.

Before leaving, Turnsplenty activated a fire alarm in the hotel.

Officers stopped his pickup truck a short time later. Turnsplenty performed poorly on a sobriety test and refused to provide a breath sample. A blood sample was taken and sent to the state crime lab.
