A 19-year-old seminary student accidentally shot over the weekend by the man with whom he was staying continues to recover at a Billings hospital.
Billings Police Department Lt. Kevin Iffland said Monday that staff at St. Vincent Healthcare reported the man, whose name has not been released, is in "stable condition, but recovering."
Iffland added that no charges have been filed against the 50-year-old homeowner who shot the teenager and that the city attorney's office is reviewing the case.
At about 11 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the report of a shooting on Mirror Lake Lane near Lake Elmo Drive. Police said the 19-year-old was staying at the house of a family friend while he attends seminary school in Billings.
He was in the garage making a phone call and trying to be quiet so as to not wake anybody inside, police said. The homeowner mistook him for an intruder and shot him, apparently in the chest, according to Billings police.
