A Billings judge sentenced a man Monday for a third domestic assault in the three years.
District Judge G. Todd Baugh sentenced Stevan Michael Fiske, 23, to five years with the Department of Corrections, with four of those years suspended, for a felony count of partner or family member assault. Fiske must also pay $456 in restitution to the victim and a $500 fine.
Fiske previously pleaded guilty to the charge, admitting that he assaulting his girlfriend on Nov. 22.
On that day, police responded to a report of a woman being harassed at the Target store on Central Avenue. The victim told officers that she and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument. The woman said he punched her and chased her into the women’s bathroom before he ran away.
Fiske’s abuse had been going on for months, she told police. She said Fiske had hit her so hard in the face before that her left eye swelled shut and that her face was still numb from that injury, an affidavit said.
Judge Baugh ordered Fiske into custody.
Court records show Fiske was convicted of partner or family member assault in 2012 and 2011.
