Billings Police say a 36-year-old transient man was taken Thursday to Billings Clinic after an apparent stabbing at the Conoco convenience store at 2701 Sixth Ave. N.

Police responded to the area behind Hardee's at around 6 p.m., where the man was seen with a stab wound to his lower back.

Despite his wound, which police said was non-life-threatening, the man was seen resisting the help of emergency responders.

According to a news release, officers "located the suspect near the scene and identified him as being involved with the assault."

The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old transient Tyler Grant Left Hand. He was arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a weapon charges and is being held at Yellowstone County Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation, but according to the release, alcohol is believed to be a factor.
