A Billings man was in custody Friday evening, accused of robbing a West Side bank.
Robert Scollard, 43, was being held in the Yellowstone County Detention Facility on theft and robbery charges.
Police said the robber entered American Federal Savings Bank, 455 S. 24th St. W., at about 4:10 p.m. carrying a plastic bag. The man told the teller that he had a gun and wanted her to place some money in the bag. The teller did so and the robber left the bank through the front doors.
Police said the man was seen getting into his car and driving away. Witnesses relayed the vehicle description and license plate number to police, who arrested Scollard without incident at a Holiday station at 785 S. 20th St. W.
Police said the money was recovered.
