Dean Michael Cass, 46, received a three-year deferred sentence for felony burglary after District Court Judge Susan Watters agreed to follow a plea agreement. The agreement also called for the dismissal of an aggravated-assault charge and a misdemeanor partner or family member assault charge.

Cass was charged in December for the incident at a North Side apartment. Prosecutors said Cass and the woman were at the apartment Dec. 26 when he got into a fight with a mutual friend. The woman called police, and Cass was removed from the apartment.

The woman said she left and returned later that day to find Cass back in the apartment. She said she found broken dishes and other damage, and Cass attacked her. She said Cass choked her during the attack.
