A woman was found shot to death at 1247 Hawthorne Lane in the Billings Heights on Saturday night.

At 11:25 p.m., officers were called to a disturbance at the residence and discovered the victim's body, Billings Police Department Sgt. Shane Winden said in a press release.

Richard Reinert, 27, lived at the residence and was arrested at the scene, Billings Police Department Sgt. Ronda Fox said.

Reinert is being held in the Yellowstone County Detention center on suspicion of felony deliberate homicide and obstructing a peace officer.

Reinert and the woman were not married, and it is unclear whether the victim also lived at the residence on Hawthorne, Fox said.

An autopsy to determine cause of death will be performed Monday, Fox said, and the victim's name will not be released until her family is notified.

Police are still on the scene of the crime investigating.
