A woman accused of slashing her ex-boyfriend with a knife when he came to get his belongings from her residence was charged Friday in District Court.
Judy Mae Escobedo, 42, pleaded not guilty to felony assault with a weapon during her arraignment before Judge Mary Jane Knisely.
Escobedo was allowed to remain free on a $5,000 bond pending trial.
According to court records, Escobedo was arrested March 31 after police were called to 809 S. 33rd St. for a stabbing. The male victim told officers he went to the residence of his former girlfriend to collect his belongings and was attacked when he told the woman he was driven to the house by his new girlfriend.
The man suffered a knife wound to his hand.
During the attack, the man said, Escobedo tried to stab him in the abdomen several times. The man said he thought Escobedo was "going to cut my guts out," court records state.
