The public is invited to attend a farewell gathering for the Yellowstone Art Museum's executive director Robyn Peterson on Friday, Dec. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the museum.

Peterson has served as the museum's executive director since March 2006. She is moving back to her home state of California to pursue new projects.

Among her accomplishments in Billings, Peterson re-established national accreditation for the YAM and conceived and oversaw the construction of the Visible Vault in 2010. The vault allows visitors to view the museum's extensive permanent collection and watch artists at work.

The YAM has named senior curator Bob Durden and emeritus trustee Carol Green to oversee the museum until a permanent director is hired.
