Jay Stewart, front, carries the double ball toward the goal as Hunter Chandler defends in a game of double ball at Montana State University Billings on Thursday. In double ball, contestants try to get the two balls, which are tethered together, through or over a goal. The games were part of the Montana Office of Public Instruction's American Indian Youth Leadership Training, which took place Wednesday and Thursday. The training was in advance of the 29th Annual Conference of the Montana Indian Education Association, which is today and Saturday at the Holiday Inn Grand Convention Center. Denise Juneau, Montana state superintendent of public instruction, will begin the conference with a welcome at 8:45 a.m. An awards banquet from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday will honor the Indian Educator of the Year.
