Billings firefighters quickly doused a fire in a home at 1680 High Sierra Blvd., on Thursday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Ed Regele said firefighters responded to the call at about 2:40. When the crew arrived, it appeared the fire started in the kitchen and no one was home.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames, he said.

The house sustained major smoke and heat damage to the main level of the home at an estimated damage amount of $100,000. The property is insured.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and a fire investigator was called, Regele said.
