Firefighters from Absarokee and Red Lodge battled a slow-moving grass fire that broke out Thursday afternoon at around 4 p.m. in Roscoe off East Rosebud Road.

As of about 5 p.m., the fire had burned about 25 acres, according to a Carbon County dispatcher.

At around midnight, the dispatcher said firefighters had contained the fire and that Red Lodge fire fighters had returned, but Absarokee firefighters remained.

Both the cause of the fire and the total damage caused by it were unknown.
