Casting for Recovery recently announced plans for its fourth annual Pink Pookie Gala, a fundraiser to benefit women who have survived breast cancer.
Casting for Recovery, a national program that began in Vermont in 1996, combines the sport of fly fishing with medical and emotional support for cancer survivors. The program seeks to enhance the quality of life after breast cancer.
CfR started its Montana-Trailhead County chapter in 2008, and has hosted 11 retreats, serving 154 women.
From those who apply each year, 14 are chosen at random to attend a free fly-fishing retreat. Ninety percent of women who attend a CfR retreat have never attended a support group.
The gala is the chapter’s largest fundraiser. Two sponsorship levels are available: Benefactor ($1,000) and Contributor ($500). Each sponsorship level includes 10 tickets to the gala, and are acknowledged at the event and in publicity materials. The Benefactor level also receives a reserved table at the event.
Individual tickets are also available for $50 each.
The gala, which includes a reception and live and silent auctions, will take place at the Radisson Inn from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on March 2.
