An Atlanta teen was rescued 400 feet from the summit of Heart Mountain by the Park County, Wyo., Search and Rescue unit Monday after she fell ill and was unable to climb back down.

According to Lance Mathess, Park County Sheriff's spokesperson, the 17-year-old experienced severe abdominal pain.

Heart Mountain is located near Cody, Wyo.

The rescue was initiated at about 11:15 a.m. after friends called 911, Mathess said. She was stabilized and walked down in a wheeled litter by first responders.

After arriving at the trailhead at about 4 p.m. she was transported to West Park Hospital by ambulance.

Her condition is unknown at this time, Mathess said.
