Rimrock Auto Group has withdrawn its proposal to change the name of MetraPark to Rimrock Auto Park.

Yellowstone County Commissioner John Ostlund said Rimrock co-owner John Soares left a message Monday night with the commissioner's office saying that the business was no longer pursuing the name change.

The car dealership had offered $15,000 a year to rename the entire park. It already pays $100,000 a year for the naming rights on the Rimrock Auto Arena.

Public comment had been heavily opposed to the proposal, although Soares didn't give a reason for the withdrawal in his message.
