Billings police detectives will take over the investigation into a drive-by shooting that occurred Saturday evening near Billings Senior High, according to BPD Sgt. Riley Finnegan.

A 20-year-old Billings man was shot in the foot as he walked west on Grand Avenue at about 6 p.m.

The shooter was a male in a white or silver car.

The victim's shoe was collected as evidence, but nothing else could be located as police searched the area, Finnegan said.

Police have not received any tips from citizens.

Witnesses reported that a male wearing a blue sweatshirt fired several shots at the victim. Three other males were in the vehicle and appeared to be wearing black clothes.

The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Virginia Lane.

The man was transported to a Billings Clinic by ambulance and surgery was required to repair two broken bones in his foot.

Finnegan said he was unsure whether the man had been released from the hospital yet.

People with information regarding the incident are encouraged to call law enforcement at 657-8200 or 245-6660 if they prefer to remain anonymous.
