The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the area where a body was discovered on Wednesday night in Coulson Park.
"Detectives are on scene kind of investigating and excavating the site in the immediate area of where the body was found," said Sheriff Mike Linder.
Not much is known about the body at this time.
"It appears that the body has been there for quite some time."
Determining the identity of the body, how the person died or even the gender at this time would be speculation.
The advanced decomposition of the body indicates that it had been there for "probably months."
But, the body did still have remnants of clothing, and other items that could help in the identification process.
The body was discovered at about 6 p.m. Wednesday when two men walking in Coulson spotted the body in the underbrush.
"They were actually looking for rocks," he said. "And they saw what appeared to be some clothing or a portion of the body in some foliage there."
The park was closed Wednesday night, the scene was covered to preserve evidence and sheriff's officers were stationed at the scene overnight.
Coulson Park should be reopened later today.
