Rural volunteer fire departments will be the primary recipients of $600,000 in grant money from the Montana Community Foundation, according to a press release issued by the organization on Thursday. 

Grants range in size from $600 to $15,000 and are drawn from MCF's Montana Wildfire Relief Fund which was launched in September in partnership with Montana Television Network. 

A total of 81 different organizations are set to receive grant money. Locally MCF says organizations receiving funding include:

  • Belfry Volunteer Fire Department.
  • Broadview Volunteer Fire Department.
  • Fuego Volunteer Fire Company.
  • Haley Bench Volunteer Fire Department.
  • Joliet Volunteer Fire Department.
  • Lockwood Fire District 8.
  • Red Lodge Fire Rescue.
  • Roberts Fire District 6.
  • Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department.
