A fundraiser for families of the Big Sky All-Stars is set for 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Al Bedoo Shrine Auditorium, at 1125 Broadwater Ave., following a busy week around town.

Brian Kurth, father of first baseman Pearce Kurth, said the team is in demand and will be making several appearances this weekend.

First up is the Burn the Point Parade in downtown Billings on Friday night, followed by an appearance at the halftime of the Senior High football game at Wendy’s Field.

On Saturday, they’ll be at halftime of the Rocky Mountain College game before taking part in a motorcade and community celebration at Dehler Park.

There’s also been talk that the team may make an appearance during halftime of a Montana Grizzlies home game, possibly on Sept. 10.

Kurth said the Sunday event is meant to cap off the return festivities so the team can get back to their regular school lives and other sports after their time in the spotlight at the Little League World Series.

“These kids weathered it well,” he said of the trip to the series and festivities in Billings since arriving home earlier this week.

The Big Sky All-Stars were the first Montana team to make it to the tournament and won three games before being defeated last Saturday by the West Regional All-Stars, who went on to win the world title over the team from Japan.

Kurth said Sunday’s event will feature ballpark staples like hot dogs and nachos. Food will be free, but donations will be accepted to help defray costs incurred by the families in their travels to Williamsport, Pa., for the Little League World Series.

There also will be a booth where T-shirts and caps will be sold, and players will be on hand to sign autographs.

Kurth is a member of the Shrine and said the food and the venue are being donated for the Sunday event.
