Lucky’s Market plans to open its first Montana grocery store in mid-March in the West Park Promenade mall.

“We are excited to bring affordable natural foods to Billings with our unique flair,” said Bo Sharon, who founded Lucky’s with his wife, Trish.

The store at 1603 Grand Ave., will be the fifth store in the Lucky’s chain, which is based in Boulder, Colo.

The husband-and-wife chefs started Lucky’s Market in 2003 after buying a convenience store in Boulder and creating a grocery store for “foodies” like them.

“We’re looking forward to giving our neighbors in Billings a new taste and experience to bring home to their kitchens,” he said.

The 20,000-square-foot store will employ about 80 people and will include a deli, a bakery, gluten-free food and will offer free wellness activities.

In 2008, Seattle-area developer Bob McDonald purchased Billings’ oldest mall, then tore out the middle to form a promenade and to make room for cars to drive up to new stores.
