An infant was uninjured Sunday afternoon after a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 just east of the main Laurel exit.

The baby’s father was transported to Saint Vincent Healthcare with minor injuries.

According to Montana state trooper Jason Hoppert, the crash was reported at 1:52 p.m. at mile marker 434, just east of Laurel. The westbound vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the guardrail, Hopper said.

The baby, who was in a car seat in the back seat, was picked up from the scene by its mother.

Speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, and the driver was adamant that he did not fall asleep at the wheel, Hoppert said. Doctors are running further tests on the driver to determine whether there was a medical reason that caused him to lose control.

The crash remains under investigation.
