A 28-year-old Minnesota man had part of his lung removed and suffered massive internal bleeding after crashing a motorcycle west of the Zoo Drive exit on Interstate 90 at about 2:45 p.m., according to his father and Montana Highway Patrol.

Jared Duane Nelson, 28, of Cloquet, Minn., was taken to St. Vincent Healthcare after the crash.

His father, Mark Good, said at about 12 a.m. Thursday that doctors were able to get the internal bleeding somewhat under control.

Witnesses said the Nelson, who was not wearing a helmet, was westbound on the interstate when he veered into the median for no apparent reason, said MHP trooper Todd Hagenbuch.

He said drugs, alcohol and speeding did not appear to be factors in the crash and that the wreck is still under investigation.
